A main trailer and key visual for the first Girls Band Cry compilation movie, Seishun Kyousou Kyoku, have been released.
The film is set to open in Japan on October 3 JST, while the second part (subtitled Naa, Mirai) will premiere on November 14 JST.
The Girls Band Cry anime debuted in Japan in April 2024. It was shown on France’s Animation Digital Network and South Korea’s Aniplus, and later became available in Indonesia via the CATCHPLAY+ streaming platform and North America via digital release platforms.
Toei Animation describes the premise as:
The main character drops out of high school in her second year, and aims at entering a university while working alone in Tokyo. A girl is betrayed by her friends and doesn’t know what to do. Another girl is abandoned by her parents, and tries to survive in the city by doing part-time jobs. This world lets us down all the time. Nothing goes as planned. But we want something that we can continue to like. We believe there’s a place where we belong. That’s why we sing.
The anime is part of a wider project that includes animated music videos, singles, live performances, and merchandise. The members of Girls Band Cry‘s first band, Togenashi Togeari, had no prior professional experience.
