Netflix has announced a live-action Korean adaptation of Solo Leveling, with model and actor Byeon Woo-seok to play protagonist Sung Jin-woo.
Lee Hae-jun (My Dictator, Ashfall co-director) and Kim Byung-seo (Ashfall and Cold Eyes co-director) are set to co-direct, while Kakao Entertainment and SANAI PICTURES are producing.
Solo Leveling was originally a Korean web novel written by Chugong and illustrated by the late Dubu. A webtoon drawn by Dubu followed afterwards.
Solo Leveling has inspired a two-season TV anime produced by A-1 Pictures and directed by Shunsuke Nakashige. A compilation film with some Season 2 content, Solo Leveling -ReAwakening-, was released in 2024 prior to Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow., which premiered in January 2025.
Crunchyroll describes the anime as:
They say whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, but that’s not the case for the world’s weakest hunter Sung Jinwoo. After being brutally slaughtered by monsters in a high-ranking dungeon, Jinwoo came back with the System, a program only he could see, that’s leveling him up in every way. Now, he’s inspired to discover the secrets behind his powers and the dungeon that spawned them.
H-Goon is credited with adapting Solo Leveling in the later volumes of the webtoon’s Japanese publication.
