A new main visual, trailer, more cast, and opening theme song have been revealed for the upcoming The Last Blossom anime film. The film is scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters on October 10, 2025 and is also known by the Japanese title Housenka.

The new 1-minute trailer was revealed at Anime Expo 2025 and previews the film’s main opening theme song “Moving Still Life” by Japanese alt pop band cero.
The film’s official Twitter/X account also confirmed the casting of four additional cast members (highlighted in the bottom half of the visual below), which include:
- • Hiroki Yasumoto as Tsutsumi
- • Soma Saito as Wakamatsu
- • Hideaki Murata as Hayashida
- • Kota Nakayama as Konishi

They join a main voice cast that stars:
- • Junki Tozuka as Minoru Akutsu (younger)
- • Kaoru Kobayashi as Minoru Akutsu (older)
- • Hikari Mitsushima as Nana Nagata (younger)
- • Yoshiko Miyazaki as Nana Nagata (older)
- • Pierre Taki as Housenka flower
Kazuya Konomoto (Odd Taxi) is credited as The Last Blossom‘s original creator and screenwriter, while Baku Kinoshita (Odd Taxi) is the director and character designer. CLAP is in charge of the animation production and planning. In an official post announcing The Last Blossom‘s production, the staff credits also listed Michinoku Toge as concept artist.

The Last Blossom was previously featured at Annecy 2024’s Work-in-Progress lineup. Its official synopsis is described as:
Autumn 2023. Akutsu, an elderly inmate serving life in prison, is on the verge of a lonely death in his single cell. A talking Housenka flower says to him, “What a rotten life you had.” Akutsu starts reflecting on his past. Summer 1986. Akutsu is living with Nana and her son Kensuke in a shabby apartment with a garden full of Housenkas. It is the tale of a one-night victorious comeback by a dying yakuza, and his family’s story told by a flower that blooms in prison.
