Ascendance of a Bookworm: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke adapts the third part of the light novel series written by Miya Kazuki and illustrated by You Shiina. J-Novel Club’s synopsis for the first Adopted Daughter of an Archduke volume reads:

Following a disastrous encounter with a noble, Myne finally resolves to say goodbye to her family and friends in the lower city, changing her name to Rozemyne and beginning her new life as the adopted daughter of Ehrenfest’s archduke. However, her days as an archnoble in noble society are brutal, as she is put through rigorous etiquette and magic training on top of her duties as High Bishop and forewoman. It all proves too much for a weak little seven-year-old girl… Or it would have, had the High Priest not offered her the keys to the temple’s book room as a reward. If she could get her hands on those, she’d be able to read all sorts of precious books! Her name may have changed, but Rozemyne’s passion for books remains the same as she charges into awhole new world! The detailed setting expands as the printing industry grows in size. Here begins Part 3 of this biblio-fantasy for book lovers everywhere!”

Crunchyroll describes the first season of the anime as:

Avid bookworm and college student Motosu Urano ends up dying in an unforeseen accident. This came right after the news that she would finally be able to work as a librarian like she had always dreamed of. When she regained consciousness, she was reborn as Main, the daughter of a poor soldier. She was in the town of Ehrenfest, which had a harsh class system. But as long as she had books, she didn’t really need anything else. However, books were scarce and belonged only to the nobles. But that doesn’t stop her, so she makes a decision… “If there aren’t any books, I’ll just create some.”

The light novel series, which is published under the TO Books Ranobe label, began in 2015 and released 12th volume of Part 5 in December 2023. There are also spin-offs and short story collections, as well as manga adaptations of the main series’ parts.

Prior to Ascendance of a Bookworm: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke, there were three Ajia-do-produced anime seasons. The first premiered in 2019.

Ascendance of a Bookworm debuted as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2013.
