New anime movie Labyrinth (Meikan no Shiori), which has Shoji Kawamori (Macross co-creator, Aquarion Evol co-creator and chief director et al., Macross: Do You Remember Love? co-director) in the director’s seat, is set to premiere in Japan in January 2026.

The premise of Labyrinth sees high school girl Shiori Maezawa finding herself in a deserted Yokohama after her smartphone breaks. Adding to the mystery, she now sees unfamiliar photos of herself on her social media account.

In addition to the escape-from-another-world set-up, Labyrinth‘s teaser trailer and the tagline on its teaser visual tease music elements.

slow curve, Vector Vision, GAGA, and Fuji Television are credited as the movie’s creators, with the former also behind the planning and production (the non-animation production kind). The animation production studio is Sanzigen.

Aside from Kawamori, the staff includes Risa Ebata (AKB0048 next stage, Macross F co-character designer) as character designer and Taichi Hashimoto (revisions co-series composer, Listeners co-series draft writer) as scriptwriter.
