An anime adaptation of the ELECEED webcomic with Hiroshi Nishikiori (Honey Lemon Soda, Argonavis from Bang Dream!, A Certain Magical Index) as the director and DandeLion Animation Studio as the animation production studio has been announced with a 2026 premiere date.

A teaser video offers a glimpse of the upcoming anime, which has character designs by Minami Sakura and scripts and series composition by Yosuke Kuroda (My Hero Academia series composer). There’s also a piece of key art.

Eleceed comes from Jeho Son (writer and creator) and ZHENA (artist), with the first chapter being released on Naver Webtoon in Korean in 2018. WEBTOON describes the premise as:

Jiwoo is a kind-hearted young man who harnesses the lightning quick reflexes of a cat to secretly make the world a better place – one saved little child or foster pet at a time. Kayden is a secret agent on the run, who finds himself stuck in the body of a…um…decidedly fat old fluffy cat. Together, armed with Jiwoo’s super powers and Kayden’s uber-smarts, they’re out to fight those forces who would let evil rule this world. That is, if they can stand each other long enough to get the job done.

As the press release notes, Eleceed is the latest anime adaptation of a WEBTOON title, after shows like Viral Hit, Tower of GodTrue Beauty, and Senpai Is an Otokonoko. Adaptations of Omniscient Reader and Teenage Mercenary are also on the way. WEBTOON says that it is “developing 20 anime titles in 2025.”

DandeLion Animation Studio president Kazuhiro Nishikawa will share “behind-the-scenes insights” about the Eleceed anime at the previously announced Amuse Creative Studio Presents: How the Pros Make Anime & Manga panel at Anime Expo 2025 on July 6. WEBTOON will also have a booth presence on the show floor where it’ll play an “exclusive video celebrating the adaptation.”
