The official Twitter/X account for The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen: From Villainess to Savior announced today that production on a second season has been confirmed. Details on a premiere date, staff, or studio were not revealed, as of the time of writing. 

A new illustration drawn by original light novel illustrator Suzunosuke was posted on the anime’s Twitter/X account.

The anime series first premiered in Japan on July 6, 2023 and aired for 12 total episodes. HIDIVE streamed the first season in select English-speaking countries and territories. 

Norio Nitta (Odd Taxi assistant director, Kira Kira Happy Hirake! Cocotama director) directed the first season, with Deko Akao (My Stepmom’s Daughter Is My Ex, Komi Can’t Communicate) as series screenwriter, and Hitomi Kono (Life with an Ordinary Guy Who Reincarnated into a Total Fantasy Knockout chief animation director) as character designer. OLM Team Yoshioka was in charge of the animation production for the series. 

Hanae Nakamura (I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss co-composer), Tatsuhiko Saiki (The Dawn of the Witch), Kanade Sakuma (I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss co-composer), and Junko Nakajima (My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! X co-composer) served as the music composers. 

Meanwhile, the anime’s voice cast includes

  • • Junya Enoki as Arthur
  • • Kikuko Inoue as Roza
  • • Toshiyuki Morikawa as Albert

The anime adaptation is based on the villainess isekai light novel series, written by Tenichi and illustrated by Suzunosuke. It was first published by Ichijinsha under the Iris NEO label on June 4, 2019 and has released 10 volumes as of April 2025. An 11th volume will be published in Japan on July 2, 2025. 

The series was originally a Shosetsuka ni Naro web novel that began serialization on April 19, 2018. It also inspired a manga adaptation by Bunko Matsuura, which ended serialization in late 2022 due to Matsuura’s health. A second manga adaptation was launched in June 2023.

Seven Seas Entertainment releases the The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen light novels and manga in English, describing the main synopsis as:

Pride Royal Ivy is only eight years old when she realizes that she’s been reincarnated, destined to become the future wicked queen and final boss of an otome game. She’s got it all in this new life: razor-sharp wit, boss-tier powers, and influence over the kingdom as crown princess. Determined to sow despair and destruction across the land, she… Wait, what kind of a rotten future is that?! Princess Pride decides to drop the maniacal villainess act and protect the male love interests instead, cheating her way to saving everyone she can! Will this final boss end up earning the adoration of her kingdom?
