Toi-san Anime Film Announces More Cast Members & Main Ending Theme Song featured image

Seven new voice cast members and an ending theme song artist have been announced for the upcoming Toi-san wa Seishun Shitai! “Baka to Smartphone to Romance to” anime film. The film, based on the short anime video series, will begin screening in Japan on July 18, 2025.  

The seven newly added voice cast members include:

  • • Aki Toyosaki as Momo Mochizuki
  • • Yuma Uchida as Satan Yamada
  • • Ayane Sakura as Yuri Himeno
  • • Junta Terashima as Hideki Otaku
  • • Manaka Iwami as Haruka Shirakawa
  • • Takehito Koyasu as Kenichi Minamoto
  • • Nobuhiko Okamoto as Kiriya Numaoka

They join Strawberry Prince boy band member Jel, who voices Akane Toi and himself in the film. 

Members of Strawberry Prince (also known as StPri) are also performing the film’s ending theme song “Mirai no Kimi kara Daijobu!” Meanwhile, Jel will perform the film’s main theme song “Mecchya Toi! feat. Jel & Toi-san.”

Mankyu (Migi & Dali, Pui Pui Molcar the Movie: MOLMAX) is directing the anime film, with Yoichi Kato (Yo-Kai Watch, Duel Masters) as screenwriter, Akemi Kobayashi (Love After World Domination) as character designer, STPR MUSIC and AniTone as music composers, Hiromi Mizutani (Non Non Biyori) as background music composer, and Haru Yamada (Suzume, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-) as sound director. Seven Arcs is handling the animation production.

Jel is involved in the planning, scriptwriting, storyboarding, and character designing in the film. STPR Records and Dentsu are credited with the film’s overall production. Strawberry Prince leader Nanamori. will also be in charge of planning and is serving as executive producer. Shochiku is distributing the film throughout Japan.

The Toi-san comedy short video series began with a video released on Twitter/X in April 2019. The series has inspired over 1,000 videos, totaling over 10 billion views on YouTube, TikTok, and other social media platforms. The series also inspired an official English study book and a novel.

Strawberry Prince are featured in their own film titled Strawberry Prince the Movie from LIDENFILMS, which premiered in Japanese theaters on July 19, 2024. It will stream on Crunchyroll sometime later this summer. The group’s members starred as the main voice cast in the film.

Crunchyroll News describes the main synopsis of Toi-san anime film as: 

The story of Toi-san follows Akane Toi, a high school girl who is known by her classmates as “Toi-san”. Toi-san intends to have an ordinary high school experience, but on her first day of school she meets a handsome boy named Jel, and although Toi-san assumes that her school life is about to turn into a romance, instead Jel and the rest of her classmates are so wacky and eccentric that every day turns into a comedy complete with stand-up routines and skits! In the film, Toi-san ends up joining the mysterious “Youth Romance Club”, which seeks to uncover “youthful” and “romantic” things.
