The first trailer for The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten Season 2 is here, providing a 38-second tease for the TV anime sequel.
The new season’s director is Chihiro Kumano (Unnamed Memory assistant director, director of the upcoming The Kept Man of the Princess Knight). The previous season’s director was originally Kenichi Imaizumi (Kingdom Season 3 to 5 and After School Dice Club director), but sometime before the show premiered, the credits changed to list Lihua Wang/Reika Ou as director and Imaizumi as supervisor.
Keiichiro Ochi and Takayuki Noguchi are still the series composer and character designer, respectively, for the project No.9 production. Sub-character designer N Nei Kurahashi is also back.
The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten is based on the romantic comedy light novels written by Saeki-san, which are published under SB Creative’s GA Bunko label. Yen Press describes the premise of the book series as:
A HEAVENLY ENCOUNTER! Mahiru is a beautiful girl whose classmates all call her an “angel.” Not only is she a star athlete with perfect grades-she’s also drop-dead gorgeous. Amane‚ an average guy and self-admitted slob‚ has never thought much of the divine beauty‚ despite attending the same school. Everything changes‚ however‚ when he happens to see Mahiru sitting alone in a park during a rainstorm. Thus begins the strange relationship between this incredibly unlikely pair!
The first season of the anime ran from January to March 2023. The second season was announced in October 2023.
The light novel series started in 2019 and has 11 main volumes as of March 2025. For the first volume, current illustrator Hanekoto only drew the cover art while Hazano Watake drew the rest of the illustrations. It ranked first in the This Light Novel Is Amazing! 2024 Bunko, Web Survey, Female Character (Mahiru Shiina), Male Character (Amane Fujimiya), and illustrator categories.
