Dark Horse Comics has announced that it will be releasing two deluxe editions of Kazuo Koike and Goseki Kojima‘s classic samurai epic manga series Lone Wolf & Cub through the Dark Horse Manga imprint.
The deluxe edition volumes will be released as oversized hardcover volumes (two samples of which are displayed below). They will be translated by Dana Lewis and lettered by Studio Cutie, retaining the manga’s original right-to-left reading format with original Japanese sound effects.

The first deluxe edition volume collects stories from Dark Horse’s paperback collections of Lone Wolf & Cub Volumes 1 and 2, and some chapters from Volume 3. The previous paperback releases from the publisher were published left-to-right, but have now been updated to utilize the original right-to-left format materials. It will be presented in a hardcover format that contains 720 total pages, measuring 7 inches by 10 inches, and will arrive in bookstores on December 9, 2025 and comic shops on December 10, 2025.
The second deluxe edition volume compiles stories from Lone Wolf & Cub Volumes 3-5. It will also be released as a hardcover book and have 720 pages with the same measurements. It will arrive in bookstores on March 24, 2026 and comic shops on March 25, 2026.
Koike and Kojima serialized the manga series in Futabasha’s Weekly Manga Action magazine from September 10, 1970 to April 1, 1976. A total of 28 tankobon volumes were published in Japan. The manga has been adapted in several Japanese live-action films and TV series. It also inspired a manga sequel, New Lone Wolf and Cub, that was published from 2003 to 2006.

Dark Horse describes the first deluxe edition volume Lone Wolf & Cub as:
Ogami Itto, once the shogun’s executioner, has fallen from grace after false accusations by a rival clan. With his wife murdered and with his three-year-old son to protect, he chooses the path of the ronin, the masterless samurai. Together, the lone wolf and his cub wander feudal Japan. All roads will lead them to a single destination — vengeance.
