Kodansha has unveiled a new collaborative music video for Medalist with Japanese singer-songwriter Kenshi Yonezu and his song “BOW AND ARROW.” The song was used as the main opening theme for the first season of the TV anime adaptation.
The music video commemorates the release of the manga’s 13th volume being published in Japan on June 23, 2025. It features several scenes from Tsurumaikada’s ice skating manga series in limited animation. Natsumi Haruse and Takeo Otsuka, who voice the main characters Inori and Tsukasa in the series, reprise their respective roles for the music video.
The first 13-episode season from ENGI aired in Japan on January 4, 2025 and ended on March 30, 2025. A second season was announced shortly after the end of season one this past March. The series was streamed on Hulu and Disney+ in select English-speaking territories, outside Japan.
The manga was first serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon on May 25, 2020 and has released 13 tankobon volumes as of June 2025. Kodansha USA releases the manga in English in print and digital format.
The manga won the Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taisho 2022 award in the “Comics” category and was honored with the 68th Shogakukan Manga Award in the “General” category.
Kodansha USA releases the Medalist manga in English, describing the main synopsis as:
Tsukasa, whose dreams were crushed. Inori, left to fend for herself. These two share a dream…and their tenacity may be the only thing that sees them through. Their destination? The ice…on the world’s stage!
