Saint Seiya: Dark Wing is a manga spinoff series of Masami Kurumada’s original 1985-1990 Saint Seiya manga series. It is written by Kenji Saito and illustrated by Shinshu Ueda, and was first launched in Akita Shoten’s Champion Red monthly magazine on December 19, 2020. Seven tankobon volumes have been released as of March 2025.

The original Saint Seiya manga has inspired several TV anime adaptations, sequel and spinoff manga, and a live-action 2023 film adaptation. The most recent Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya 3DCG ran for two seasons containing four parts between 2019 to 2024, with Netflix streaming the first season and Crunchyroll streaming the second season.

Titan Manga describes the synopsis of the first volume as:

Shoichiro was just another high school student. Now, he’s Wyvern, one of the dreaded Judges of the Underworld, chosen to battle against the forces of Athena in a war that transcends life and death.

When an unexpected ambush during a school trip sends Shōichirō and his classmates into the land of the dead, they are thrust into a fierce struggle between the gods and their warriors. The mysterious forces of Hades have already begun their assault, and Shōichirō’s destiny is forever altered. But he’s not alone — Cattleya, the reincarnation of Athena herself, fights to defend the living, as shocking truths about a darker conspiracy threaten everything they know.

The first volume is now available for pre-order from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books A Million, and Forbidden Planet in the U.K.
