A new SUNRISE-produced TV anime titled Yoroi Shin Den Samurai Troopers has been announced with a January 2026 premiere window. The show is a sequel to the 1988-1999 series Yoroi Den Samurai Troopers/Ronin Warriors.
Yoichi Fujita (Osomatsu-san Season 1-2, Good Luck Girl) is directing the new series. Other production credits include:
• Series composer and screenwriter: Shogo Muto (Thermae Romae live-action movie and Build NEW WORLD: Kamen Rider Grease screenwriter)
• Main character designer: Yuhei Murota (Love Live! co-character designer, Love Live! Sunshine! character designer)
• Villain character designer: Tsukasa Kotobuki (Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan and Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin co-character designer)
• Yoroi gear draft designer: Hideo Okamoto (Yoroi Den Samurai Troopers yoroi designer)
• Animation yoroi gear designer: Takuya Suzuki (Valvrave the Liberator mechanical animation designer)
At this time, the only announced cast member is Hiiro Ishibashi as Gai. The story will have five young samurai coming to humanity’s aid as demons invade after the unravelling of a seal on their dimension.
The original Yoroi Den Samurai Troopers had previously inspired three OVA, manga, and novels. An anniversary screening featuring three episodes from the series was held on June 11 JST.
