Anime director Shingo Natsume (One-Punch Man Season 1, The Tatami Time Machine Blues, Sonny Boy) is back with a new Madhouse-produced project, an original anime film that’s tentatively titled ghost and scheduled for a 2027 premiere.
The film features character design drafts by manga artist Natsume Ono (whose ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Department manga was adapted into a Natsume-directed TV anime) and character designs by Norifumi Kugai (ACCA: 13, Sonny Boy). Natsume is penning the script.
A visual featuring a girl with a sword and a piercing stare, as well as what look to be flowers that contrast against the rest of the image with their colorfulness, was released with ghost‘s announcement. There are also two stills.
The stills were accompanied by a brief description that begins with the line, “There is a ‘ghost’ in everyone’s hearts,” with “ghost” referring to a feeling that genuinely exists but cannot be put into words. It then speaks of a girl, Nike, who rebels against the “irrationality” of the world in order to protect the “‘starry sky.'” It will also “lyrically” depict her “loneliness” and “bravery,” as well as the “subtleties of the heart” that stem from relationships with others.
