A 12th new “Kaiju Hyakkei” seasonal showcase visual has been revealed for the upcoming Kaiju No. 8 Season 2, spotlighting Gen Narumi gaming on his phone during some downtime. The second season is expected to premiere in Japan on July 19, 2025.

It was previously announced earlier this month that the second season will be streamed worldwide on Twitter/X like the first season, which premiered in April 2024. A compilation of season one and Hoshina’s Day Off were theatrically screened simultaneously in Japan for three weeks, beginning on March 28, 2025.
Additionally, it was announced that the Hoshina’s Day Off special will have its Japanese broadcast debut on July 5, 2025.
The main staff, returning from the first season, include Shigeyuki Miya (Afterlost, The Kawai Complex Guide to Manors and Hostel Behavior) and Tomomi Kamiya (A Good Librarian Like a Good Shepherd, Hikari: Kariya wo Tsunagu Monogatari) as directors, Ichiro Okouchi (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch of Mercury, Code Geass) as series screenwriter, Tetsuya Nishio (Naruto, Vampire in the Garden) as character designer, Mahiro Maeda (SSSS.GRIDMAN, Evangelion 3.0+1.0 co-director and concept art director et al.) as kaiju designer, Studio Khara as kaiju supervisor (design and artwork), Shinji Kimura (Children of the Sea, Blood Blockade Battlefront) as art director, and Yuta Bandoh (Belle co-composer) as music composer. Production I.G is handling the animation production for the series.
Meanwhile, the anime’s main voice cast stars:

A new upcoming video game from Akatsuki Games will be released on the App Store, Google Play, and Steam at an still-to-be-determined date. Pre-registrations opened on April 26, 2025 and passed 200,000 global pre-registrations in May.
The anime adaptation is based on Naoya Matsumoto’s action manga series was launched in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ online website on July 3, 2020. Fifteen tankobon volumes have been released as of March 2025. VIZ Media licensed the manga for release in English for North America.
The manga has also inspired spinoffs titles such as Kaiju No.8: B-Side and Kaiju No. 8 Relax. A four-chapter side-story light novel written by Keiji Ando was also released on November 4, 2022.

Crunchyroll confirmed it will be streaming the second season of Kaiju No. 8, as it did with the first season. It describes the main synopsis of the first season as:
The story revolves around Kafka Hibino, a 32-year-old longing to join The Defense Force and make good on his promise to a childhood friend, Mina Ashiro. He befriends a new coworker Reno Ichikawa, while cleaning up Kaiju remains, whose determination to join The Defense Force inspires Kafka to fulfill his childhood promise to pass the entrance exam and join Mina to protect humanity. When a small Kaiju burrows itself inside Kafka, he gains superhuman strength and powers fit for fighting Kaiju. He works to earn the trust of his human teammates, defeat increasingly powerful Kaiju, and keep the world safe.
