The upcoming Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 fighting game has received a new trailer that highlights the sequel’s new features alongside story mode footage.
The flashiest addition is Dual Ultimates, which can be unleashed via certain combinations of characters — the trailer previews Tanjiro Kamado and Kyojuro Rengoku launching a whirlwind of flame with a joint slash of their blades.
For those who want more than just Story Mode and VS Mode, Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 will let players challenge the Hashira in Training Paths, where “players will advance through a series of tournament brackets with ever-changing victory conditions that keep every tournament round fresh and engaging.”
Aside from these, there will be a second Ultimate Art for some characters, equippable items with bonuses like poison resistance and health regeneration in both Story Mode and VS Mode, and a mode called The Path of a Demon Slayer where players can play out “key battles from the Unwavering Resolve Arc up to the Mugen Train Arc” to refresh their memories of the first game’s story content.
For those who like to personalize their online profiles, playing in Story Mode and VS Mode will up a character’s mastery level, which leads to rewards like stickers or background images.
Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 is coming out on August 5 (August 1 JST in Japan) for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Steam, and Switch. The CyberConnect2-developed 3D arena fighter is the sequel to 2021’s Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles and will cover the Entertainment District Arc, Swordsmith Village Arc, and Hashira Training Arc in story mode.
