The Summer Hikaru Died anime will have a booth and panel at Anime Expo 2025. The booth will feature an “immersive photo experience” and showcase production materials from the series to the public for the first time at the Entertainment-West Hall (E-65).

The series will also have a special premiere of the first episode of the anime and a talk panel with the staff and cast. Special guests attending the panel include Mokumokuren, the author of the original manga series, Chiaki Kobayashi, who voices Yoshiki Tsujinaka, and producers Chiaki Kurakane and Manami Kabashima. The panel will take place on July 4th at the JW Platinum.

The Summer Hikaru Died will air on Netflix on July 5.
The Summer Hikaru Died is a horror slice-of-life manga series written and illustrated by Mokumokuren. It began serialization on KADOKAWA’s Young Ace website in August 2021 and has six volumes as of June 2025. The seventh volume will be released in Japan on July 4, 2025. Yen Press has licensed and is publishing the manga in English.
Yen Press describes the manga as:
It has Hikaru’s face. It has Hikaru’s voice. It even has Hikaru’s memories. But whatever came down from the mountains six months ago isn’t Yoshiki’s best friend. Whatever it is, it’s dangerous. Carrying on at school and hanging out as if nothing has changed—as if Hikaru isn’t gone—would be crazy…but when it looks so very like Hikaru…and acts so very like Hikaru…
