The second cour of Dr. Stone: Science Future has received a trailer and a July 10 JST premiere date.
It was also announced that the new opening song is “SUPERNOVA” by KANA-BOON, and that Megumi Han and Reigo Yamaguchi are joining the cast as Chelsea and Leonard, respectively.
Dr. Stone: Science Future‘s first cour premiered on January 9 JST. The TV anime, which is the final season of the Dr. Stone anime adaptation, will run for three split cours.
The Dr. Stone anime series is based on the Shueisha-published manga written by Riichiro Inagaki and drawn by Boichi, which ran from 2017 to 2022 in Weekly Shonen Jump and has 26 tankoubon volumes. Viz Media describes the manga’s premise as:
One fateful day, all of humanity was petrified by a blinding flash of light. After several millennia, high schooler Taiju awakens and finds himself lost in a world of statues. However, he’s not alone! His science-loving friend Senku’s been up and running for a few months and he’s got a grand plan in mind—to kickstart civilization with the power of science!
The first season of the Dr. Stone anime started airing in 2019. The third season, Dr. Stone: New World, started its first cour in April 2023 and the second cour in October 2023.
