Shimai Youhei (Sisters Mercenary), a new light novel written by Days With My Stepsister‘s Ghost Mikawa and illustrated by kappe (aka Kanna Hirayama, the character designer of anime like OSHI NO KO and Rent-A-Girlfriend) is set to launch on July 25 JST under KADOKAWA’s MF Bunko J label.
In a lengthy tweet, Mikawa revealed that Shimai Youhei will be a one-volume title, similar to a regular novel. One reason for this is due to the difficulty of increasing the amount of light novel series they have to work on.
Shimai Youhei will follow two female mercenaries, one of whom is a new recruit who had been juggling part-time gigs after leaving home at 17. The other is a more experienced mercenary who takes the newcomer under her wing. Mikawa says that the light novel emphasizes human relations and depictions that have a sense of realness as well as a high degree of understanding.
Mikawa also wrote that the story will depict anxieties and human nature similar to what can be found in present-day Japan.
Before Shimai Youhei comes out, June 25 JST will see the release of Days With My Stepsister‘s 14th volume (also a MF Bunko J publication). Earlier this year, in April, the third volume of Mikawa’s Jimi na Ojisan, Jitsu wa Eiyuu deshita. ~Jikaku ga nai mama Musoushitetara, Mei no Dungeon Haishin de Sarasareteta you desu~ fantasy series was released.
