The official Twitter/X and website for the upcoming Betrothed to My Sister’s Ex TV anime series has revealed the casting of three new additional cast members. The series is scheduled to premiere in Japan on July 4, 2025.
The three new cast members include Tetsuya Kakihara as Toppo, Tatsuyuki Kobayashi as Thomas, and Yuka Aisaka as Tunica.
They join a previously announced voice cast that so far includes:
- • Rena Motomura as Marie
- • Daiki Hamano as Kyuros
- • Minami Tanaka as Anastasia
- • Yoko Hikasa as Mio
- • Ryohei Kimura as Louisphon
- • Sayaka Ohara as Ryu-Ryu
Takayuki Kitagawa (Chiikawa Episode 106 to 115 storyboard artist and director) is directing the anime series, with Masakazu Sunagawa (Cuticle Detective Inaba) as assistant director, Kenta Ihara (Blue Miburo) as series screenwriter and scriptwriter, and Akiko Sato (A Condition Called Love) as character designer. LandQ Studio is handling the animation production.
The anime adaptation is based on the manga by Chikage Nakakura, which adapts a light novel series written by Tobirano and illustrated by Mai Murasaki (who is credited with the original character designs in the anime’s credits). Futabasha first published the light novels on April 15, 2020 and released eight volumes as of January 2025, with the most recent six volumes being distributed as e-books. The manga adaptation by Nakakura followed on July 24, 2020. The series began as a Shosetsuka ni Naro web novel in 2019.
Seven Seas Entertainment releases the Betrothed to my Sister’s Ex manga in English, describing the main synopsis as:
Marie has spent her life living under her sister’s shadow as the two grew up in an impoverished baron’s home. Every nice thing went to Marie’s sister, leaving her without even a proper dress! And right when her sister was being married off to a wealthy Earl–tragedy strikes and Marie’s sister is killed en route. With the dowry already spent, it’s decided that Marie will take her sister’s place and become the Earl’s betrothed. But, when she gets there, she finds there’s been a serious mix-up—the proposal was a total misunderstanding!
