The staff for the ongoing Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World Season 2 has announced on its official Twitter/X account that Yu Kobayashi is joining the voice cast as Grugell. The series returned from its hiatus in Japan by restarting its broadcast of season two’s first four episodes, starting on April 10, 2025. A total of 12 episodes will air in season two.
Kadokawa describes Grugell as a powerful witch that utilizes the “astral power of Snow” to produce blizzards and golems. She is also known as the “Midnight Sun Witch.”
Kobayashi joins a main voice cast that stars:

The current delay for the second season of Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World was announced in August 2024 after the premiere of four episodes. Before that, the production of season two was pushed back from 2023 to 2024.
Yuki Inaba (KamiKatsu: Working for God in a Godless World) is directing the anime, with Shunsuke Ishikawa and Inaba as series screenwriters. Kaori Yoshikawa (KamiKatsu: Working for God in a Godless World) is serving as the character designer and chief animation director. Studio Palette joined SILVER LINK for the animation production of season two.
The anime is based on the fantasy romance light novel series, written by Kei Sazane and illustrated by Ao Nekonabe. It was first published by Fujimi Shobo’s Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint on May 20, 2017 and has released 16 main volumes as of October 2024.
The light novels also inspired a manga adaptation by Okama that was published from May 2018 to March 2021. A total of seven tankobon volumes were released.
The first season of Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World aired in 2020 and was originally streamed worldwide by Funimation, before transferring to Crunchyroll, who are also streaming the second season worldwide.
