The Young Ladies Don’t Play Fighting Games TV anime adaptation has received a teaser trailer, which previews the show’s characters. That preview includes shots of them engaging in a Street Fighter 6 match, set in a dark room with cold colors to contrast with the warmer school-life scenes that are also shown to us, with CAPCOM getting a cooperation credit shoutout in the trailer too.

Aside from the teaser, there are also new cast announcements and the reveal of the staff. The production credits include:

• Director: Shota Ibata (Girlish Number, The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent)
• Series composer: Watari Wataru (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU author, The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent)
• Character designer: Mayuko Matsumoto (Parallel World Pharmacy, Handa-kun)
• Animation production: Diomedea
• Recording cooperation: FAV gaming

Meanwhile, the additional cast members are Sayaka Senbongi as Yu Inui and Shino Shimoji as Tamaki Ichinose.

Young Ladies Don’t Play Fighting Games is based on the manga by Eri Ejima, which is serialized in KADOKAWA’s Monthly Comic Flapper and will release its ninth tankobon volume on  June 23, 2025 JST. Seven Seas Entertainment describes the premise as:

Kuromi Girls’ Academy is a refined, elegant school that expects the very best in deportment from its young ladies. Aya got into this peerless rich-girls’ institution on a scholarship, and hopes to grow as lovely as her fellow student and idol Shirayui. But Shirayui hides a terrible secret: she’s a trash-talking, combo-chaining, newbie-stomping, ruthless hardcore gamer! Could a mutual indulgence in no-holds-barred video game combat grow into a deeper rapport between these two girls?

The anime was first announced in 2021, and was revealed to be premiering in 2025 in March.

Earlier this month, a collaboration visual between the anime and the fighting game tournament EVO Japan 2025 was released.
