If you’re a fan of the Star Wars: Visions animated anthology series, here are two new announcements that warrant your attention. One: Season 3 is coming to Disney+ on October 29. Two: we’re getting a “Star Wars: Visions Presents limited series” called The Ninth Jedi.

There’s a reason why The Ninth Jedi‘s title sounds familiar — reports say that it’s a spin-off of the Production IG.-produced “The Ninth Jedi” episode from Season 1, which featured lightsabers whose colors reflect the wielder’s “connection with the Force.” The episode’s writer, storyboard artist, and director Kenji Kamiyama was reported as saying that the new series will give us more of “The Ninth Jedi” heroine Lah Kara.

But before The Ninth Jedi, we’ll first see Kara, and also the Margrave Juro, in Season 3. According to StarWars.com, Kamiyama said that “Director Shiotani is making one more film this time [‘Child of Hope’], and it ends with Kara’s departure to look for her father in the first short film.”

While “The Ninth Jedi” is the only episode with its own spin-off series at this time, IGN reports that Star Wars: Visions Season 3 will include two other sequels, one for the Kamikaze Douga-produced “The Duel” and one for Kinema Citrus-produced “The Village Bride.”

Star Wars: Visions Season 3 will feature short films produced by David ProductionKamikaze Douga and AnimaKinema CitrusPolygon PicturesProduction I.GProject Studio QTRIGGER, and WIT STUDIO. One of these is “Black,” which is directed by the formidable animator Shinya Ohira and is a part of Annecy’s Official Selection 2025.

“The Ninth Jedi” featured the voices of Chinatsu Akasaki as Lara and Tetsuo Kanao as Juro, among others. Tetsuya Nishio (Naruto and Kaiju No.9) did the character designs.
