Crunchyroll Begins Streaming Bloody Escape: Bats out of Hell Original Anime Film featured image

Crunchyroll has begun streaming the original anime film Bloody Escape: Bats out of Hell today. The film first premiered in Japan on January 5, 2024 under the title Bloody Escape -Jigoku no Tōsōgeki-

Goro Taniguchi (One Piece Film Red) is credited with the original concept and is serving as director, co-scriptwriter. Other staff include Yusuke Kozaki (Human Lost, Speed Grapher) as original character designer and co-series character designer with Simadoriru, and Kotaro Nakagawa (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion franchise) as music composer. Shingo Nagai (WorldEnd, High Card) is also serving as co-scriptwriter with Taniguchi. Polygon Pictures is in charge of the animation production.

Bloody Escape: Bats out of Hell was first announced in March 2023. It is part of Taniguchi’s mixed-media project that includes the 12-episode TV anime series Estab Life: Great Escape and the Estab Life: Unity Memories mobile game, which was cancelled after the release of the film.

Crunchyroll previously announced that it would stream the anime film on its platform, describing the main premise as: 

After being turned into a cyborg, Kisaragi faces pursuit from vampires and vengeful yakuza.

The film follows a cyborg character, who is pursued by a group of immortal vampires that intend to conquer Tokyo and the yakuza, who seek to avenge their murdered boss.
