March 3 JST saw the establishment of NK Animation, whose scope includes planning, production, and advertising for animated works.
The new entity is a wholly owned subsidiary of Japanese film company Nikkatsu. As Nikkatsu says in its press release (PDF), the move is part of a reorganizing decision that was made at a board meeting in December, with its animation-related operations split off into NK Animation by means of an incorporation-type company split.
Nikkatsu president Naoki Sato is holding the same role at the subsidiary, which has a capital stock value of 50 million yen (~US$336 thousand).
The anime that Nikkatsu has involvement with include Girlfriend, Girlfriend, I Want to Escape from Princess Lessons, From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad’s Been Reincarnated!, and the upcoming My Friend’s Little Sister Has It In for Me! The company, whose history stretches back to 1912, lists My One-Hit Kill Sister and Otaku Elf as its first anime productions.
