The Toilet Bound Hanako-kun anime will continue beyond Season 2, as a sequel has been announced with a July 2025 Japanese broadcast premiere window.
A teaser visual drawn by the manga’s AidaIro was released as well.
The Toilet Bound Hanako-kun manga began serialization in Square Enix’s Monthly G Fantasy in 2014 and has 23 tankoubon volumes as of December 2024. Yen Press describes it as:
“Hanako-san, Hanako-san…are you there?” At Kamome Academy, rumors abound about the school’s Seven Mysteries, one of which is Hanako-san. Said to occupy the third stall of the third floor girls’ bathroom in the old school building, Hanako-san grants any wish when summoned. Nene Yashiro, an occult-loving high school girl who dreams of romance, ventures into this haunted bathroom…but the Hanako-san she meets there is nothing like she imagined! Kamome Academy’s Hanako-san…is a boy!
The anime’s first season aired in 2020. A short anime adaptation of the After-school Hanako-kun spin-off premiered in 2023 and returned for a second season in 2024.
