During a stage event at AnimeJapan 2025, a new key visual and two additional cast members were revealed for the upcoming Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to be Loved anime film. The film is scheduled to begin screening in Japanese theaters on June 27, 2025.
It was also confirmed that Japanese music group fhána is performing the film’s opening theme “Namida no Parade.”

The two additional cast members joining the film’s cast are Fumihiko Tachiki as Kimun Kamui and Nobunaga Shimazaki as Azad.
They join a main voice cast that stars:

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to be Loved was announced last September with Tatsuya Ishihara (Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S, Amagi Brilliant Park) as the director. Other staff include Yuka Yamada (Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S series screenwriter) as scriptwriter, Miku Kadowaki (Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S character designer) as character designer and chief animation director, Shingo Kasai (Free!-the Final Stroke-) as background art director, Naomi Takahashi (Free!-the Final Stroke- co-color designer) as color designer, and Hiroki Umeda (Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S) as composting director. Kyoto Animation is in charge of the animation production.
The late Yasuhiro Takemoto (Season 1 director) is credited as the series director.
Part of the anime film’s premise is stated as follows:
The normal office worker, Miss Kobayashi. Dragons gathered after being attracted by Miss Kobayashi. Suddenly there is a visitor for the young little dragon, Kanna. Surprisingly, he is Kanna’s real father.
Kyoto Animation previously produced the 2017 TV series Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid, its 2021 sequel Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S, and the short form ONA MiniDora (Mini Dragon).
The original manga series by Coolkyousinnjya was first serialized in Futabasha’s Monthly Action magazine on May 25, 2013, before moving to MANGA Action magazine in 2024 due to the former ceasing publication. A total of 16 tankobon volumes have been released as of February 2025. Seven Seas Entertainment releases the manga in English, as well as its many spinoff titles.

Miss Kobayashi is your average office worker who lives a boring life, alone in her small apartment–until she saves the life of a female dragon in distress. The dragon, named Tohru, has the ability to magically transform into an adorable human girl (albeit with horns and a long tail!), who will do anything to pay off her debt of gratitude, whether Miss Kobayashi likes it or not. With a very persistent and amorous dragon as a roommate, nothing comes easy, and Miss Kobayashi’s normal life is about to go off the deep end!
