A teaser trailer for this July’s Kaiju No. 8: Season 2 has been released.
The anime is based on the Shueisha-published manga by Naoya Matsumoto, which debuted in 2020 on Shonen Jump+ and has 15 tankoubon volumes as of March 2025. VIZ Media describes the manga as:
Kafka hopes to one day keep his pact with his childhood friend Mina to join the Japan Defense Force and fight by her side. But while she’s out neutralizing kaiju as Third Division captain, Kafka is stuck cleaning up the aftermath of her battles. When a sudden rule change makes Kafka eligible for the Defense Force, he decides to try out for the squad once more. There’s just one problem—he’s made the Defense Force’s neutralization list under the code name Kaiju No. 8.
Kaiju No.8 Season 1 premiered in April 2024. A compilation of it and a new original episode titled “Hoshina’s Day Off” are set to be theatrically screened simultaneously from March 28 JST for three weeks.
Crunchyroll has confirmed it will be streaming Season 2.
