Four new additional side characters and cast members are joining the upcoming The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei: He Just Solves All the Mysteries TV anime series. The anime is scheduled to premiere in Japan on April 7, 2025.
The four newly revealed cast members play the protagonist Kanna’s classmates and include:
- • Saki Ogasawara as Shizue Minoda
- • Yukiyo Fujii as Hanadai Renjo
- • Hikaru Akao as Ryoko Ogawa
- • Wataru Hatano as Takeshi “Take-bo” Kota
They join a main voice cast that stars:
- • Kaori Maeda as Kanna Kusakabe
- • Katsuyuki Konishi as Akihiko Chuzenji
- • Shinnosuke Tachibana as Reijiro Enokizu
- • Shuya Nishiji as Takuboku Sekiguchi
- • Takanori Hoshino as Shutaro Kiba
Chihiro Kumano (Unnamed Memory assistant director) is directing the anime, with Atsushi Oka (Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie co-scriptwriter) as series screenwriter and scriptwriter, and Masahiko Suzuki (Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs) as character designer. 100studio is in charge of the animation production.
The anime is based on the school mystery manga by Aki Shimizu, which was first launched in Kodansha’s Shonen Magazine Edge on October 17, 2019 and has released 11 tankobon volumes as of March 2025. The series then transferred to the Comic Days website on December 20, 2023 after Shonen Magazine Edge ceased publication on October 17, 2023.
Shimizu’s manga is a spinoff and prequel manga to Natsuhiko Kyougoku’s Hyakki Yakou novel series.
Pony Canyon describes the synopsis of The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei as:
This story takes place before the exorcist Kyogokudo opened up a used bookstore… Our setting is in Tokyo in 1948, just right after the war.
Kanna Kusakabe had just become a second-year at a high school when she meets the new language teacher, Akihiko Chuzenji. Mysterious supernatural things keep happening around Kanna. Once again today, Kanna is going to open the doors to the library prep room to seek help from the surly Chuzenji-sensei who is waiting inside.
A high school supernatural mystery featuring the unlikely duo between a teacher and a high school girl is about to begin!
