The production of a KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World! anime sequel has been announced.

Thus far, there have been three seasons, a movie, one season of the spin-off Konosuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World!, and OVAs. Most recent is the KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World! 3 -Bonus Stage- OVA that began its two-week theatrical screening in Japan on March 14 JST and will be out on Blu-ray and DVD on April 25 JST.

KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World! is based on the isekai comedy light novel series written by Natsume Akatsuki and illustrated by Kurone Mishima, which was published under the KADOKAWA Sneaker Bunko label from 2013 to 2020 with 17 main volumes and three short story anthologies. Yen Press describes the light novels’ premise as:

Game loving shut-in Kazuma Sato’s life as a young schoolboy in Japan abruptly comes to an early end…or at least it was supposed to. When he opens his eyes, though, he sees a beautiful goddess that offers him a once in an after-lifetime chance to be reborn in a parallel world. The catch is that the world is violent and threatened by a growing evil! Fortunately, he can choose any one thing to bring with him. So he chooses the goddess, Aqua! And so his adventure with his gorgeous companion begins–if he could just get enough money and food to survive, keep his goddess out of trouble, and avoid grabbing the attention of the Demon King’s army!

The first two KonoSuba seasons were produced at Studio Deen, while the 2019 movie KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World Legend of Crimson was a J.C.STAFF production. Season 3 and Konosuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! were Drive productions.

The Season 3 staff includes:

• Chief director: Takaomi Kanasaki (director of Seasons 1 and 2, Legend of Crimson)
• Director: Yuujiro Abe (Konosuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World!)
• Character designer: Koichi Kikuta (returning from previous instalments)
• Series composer: Makoto Uezu (returning from previous instalments)

The cast includes Jun Fukuyama as Kazuma, Sora Amamiya as Aqua, Rie Takahashi as Megumin, and Ai Kayano as Darkness.

KonoSuba began as a Shousetsuka ni Narou web novel in 2012. The light novels have inspired a manga adaptation by Masahito Watari and several spin-offs.
