The McDonald’s Japan YouTube channel has released the Hatsune Miku-starring Shaka Shaka fries collaboration video, which features the Vocaloid singing about the fast food product.

The modified lyrics of the “Shiteyan’yo” song (“Mikumiku ni shite ageru” becomes “Shaka shaka ni shite ageru,” for instance) aren’t the only thing in the video that contains fries. Various sections see Miku whipping out a pair of giant fries or a bag of Shaka Shaka fries, the very act of shaking the bag incorporated into the choreography.

The audience’s light sticks are replaced by fries, and the center-rear part of the stage is dominated by an illumination patterned after a packet of McDonald’s fries. The words “shaka” and “pote” (short for “potato,” and referring to French fries in this context) are also displayed on the stage.

McDonald’s Japan is currently offering the Ume-Nori Salt and Garlic Pepper Mayo seasoning flavors. A packet costs 40 yen (~US$0.26).

The Hatsune Miku collaboration was teased last month. A 60-second version of the commercial had its broadcast premiere on March 9 JST, which is Miku Day due to wordplay reasons.
