Voice actors Natsuki Hanae and Hikaru Toono win the Best Voice Acting Performance of the Year in their respective gender categories at the 11th Anime Trending Awards.
Hanae voiced Ken Takakura from DAN DA DAN, while Toono voiced Anna Yanami from Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines! With this additional award, DAN DA DAN goes home with a total of five awards under its belt — Opening Theme Song of the Year, Best in Animation, Best in Soundtrack, Supernatural Anime of the Year, and Best Voice Acting Performance – Male. Hanae’s range to portray the timid, yet emboldened Ken makes for a hilariously compelling performance in a show where all sorts of zany aliens and ghosts can steal his manhood.
Ironically, this is also Hanae’s third win at the Anime Trending Awards since his portrayal of Shinepi Aijiro from Summertime Rendering and Tanjiro Kamadou from Demon Slayer.
Meanwhile, this is Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines!’s second award at the annual Anime Trending Awards, followed by its narrow victory as Comedy Anime of the Year. Despite its title and overall votes at the 11th Anime Trending Awards, the show did fairly well in other categories too — scoring second in Best in Voice Cast, third in Best Adapted Screenplay, Character Design, and Romance Anime of the Year; and scattered among other rankings. Love and rankings might not always be in the show’s favor, but persistence always finds a way, like in Toono’s portrayal of the bright and charming Anna.
