Tabletop gamers/Gundam fans who are waiting for the Gundam Assemble tabletop game to hit tables will have to remain patient until 2026, which was recently revealed to be its launch date.
As previously announced, however, a number of Gundam Assemble miniatures will be obtainable this year via the special editions of the Gundam Card Game’s starter decks (which are launching on July 11 at an MSRP of US$34.99). The selection of miniatures included in those special editions have also recently been revealed, and they are:
• Heroic Beginnings — RX-78-2 Gundam, Guntank, Guncannon
• Wings of Advance — Tallgeese, Leo, and Leo Space Type
• Zeon’s Rush — Char’s Zaku II, Heat Hawk Zaku II, bazooka Zaku II
• Seed Strike — Skygrasper, Sword Strike Gundam, Launcher Strike Gundam
Another recent Gundam Assemble-related announcement concerns the paints. There will be 13 base color paints (acrysion matt) and two water-based washes from Mr. Hobby, with the Gundam Assemble name labeled on the pots. They will go on sale in Japan in July and include White and Shade Black. According to the GSI Creos X (formerly Twitter) account, the highlights of these paints include:
• An emphasis on paint spread. The use of easy-to-use thickener to enable color to easily remain even on the edges of parts.
• Adjustment to the pigment concentration for improved coverage.
• Ability to be mixed with existing Acrysion paints.
• Ability to be used with airbrushes after being thinned with the acrysion solvent for airbrush.
Gundam Assemble was announced in early January as a game that uses 5-cm-tall mobile suits from across the franchise. Its description says:
“Each unit has abilities that reflect their unique characteristics, allowing players to enjoy scenarios that follow the original story, or diverge into situations that transcend the world of Mobile Suit Gundam series; thus providing both a sense of recreation and distinct battles.”
Its teaser video suggests that it will be a skirmish-level miniatures game played on hexes. The game’s board, as well as a diorama, are displayed at the GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE FINAL in TOKYO event, which ends on February 24 JST.
