The official website for the upcoming second season of Aharen-san wa Hakarenai announced that voice actress Iori Saeki will be joining the cast as Henzan-sensei. Season two is expected to debut in Japan in April 2025. 

Saeki’s character is described as a rookie teacher, who had always wanted to be in the profession since watching a drama in her childhood.

She joins a main voice cast that features: 

  • • Inori Minase as Reina Aharen
  • • Takuma Terashima as Raido
  • • M.A.O as Mitsuki Ooshiro
  • • Kana Hanazawa as Ms. Tobaru 
  • • Tetsuya Kakihara as Ishikawa
  • • Tomori Kusonoki as Hanako Sato
  • • Yurie Kozaki as Miyahira-sensei
  • • Nao Toyama as Riku Tamanaha

The website also confirmed the second season’s ending theme song, which is “Twilight” by solo music act shallm. Meanwhile, the opening theme is “Binetsuma” by ZUTOMAYO

Some returning staff from the first season working on the second season include Yasutaka Yamamoto (Noblesse) as chief director, Tomoe Makino (Woodpecker Detective’s Office) as director, Takao Yoshioka (Horimiya) as screenwriter and scriptwriter, Yuko Yahiro (Kaguya-sama: Love Is War) as character designer, and Satoru Kosaki (Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song-) and MONACA (Maesetsu!) as music composers. Felix Film is handling the animation production for the series. Chinese streaming service bilibili is part of the production committee. 

Tomoko Iwasa (Wave!! Surfing Yappe!!) also returns as chief animation director, with Yumiko Ishii and Saori Yamamoto joining in the roles as well. Other staff include Baku Production’s Kenichi Kurata (Nekopara) as art director, Chiharu Tanaka (Nekopara) as color designer, and Studio Shamrock’s Kazuya Iwai (Nekopara) as photography director.

The anime is based on the romantic comedy manga series by Asato Mizu (Denkigai no Honya-san). It was first launched on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ website on January 29, 2017 and ended on April 30, 2023. Seventeen tankobon volumes have been released in total.

Season one of the slice of life romantic comedy anime series aired for 12 episodes from April 2, 2022 to June 18, 2022.

Crunchyroll streamed the first season of Aharen-san wa Hakarenai worldwide as it aired in Japan and describes the main synopsis as: 

Socially awkward Aharen-san has personal boundary issues, either getting too close or too far from her classmates. When fellow student Raido picks up an eraser she drops, Aharen-san decides they’re now best friends. Whether studying, playing the arcade, or just eating lunch — she’s along for the ride. What follows is an impromptu bonding that shows affection can blossom in the unlikeliest of places!
