The official website and X/Twitter account for the ongoing Blue Miburo TV anime have announced the addition of five new voice cast members joining the series, as well as a full reveal of a previously released visual. The second cour premiered in Japan on January 11, 2025, with the overall series first airing on October 19, 2024.
The newly revealed visual features the anime’s main cast from the Mibu Roshigumi taking on the Blood Risshidan group in a climactic battle.

The new characters will appear on the anime’s 17th episode as part of its second cour on February 8, 2025, and their voice casts include:
- • Ryohei Kimura as Yaksha
- • Yoshiki Nakajima as Sendo
- • Yoku Shioya as Ryoken
- • Masashi Yamane as Hanabishi
- • Daisuke Hirakawa as Anegakoji Kintomo
They join a main voice cast that stars:
- • Shuichiro Umeda as Nio Chirinu
- • Yohei Azakami as Toshizo Hijikata
- • Kensho Ono as Okita Souji
- • Chiaki Kobayashi as Hajime Saito
- • Shun Horie as Taro Tanaka
Kumiko Habara (Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp) is directing the anime, with Kenta Ihara (Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy) as series screenwriter, Yuko Oba (Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp) as character designer, Miyako Nishida (Rainbow Days) as character designer, and Yuki Hayashi (My Hero Academia) as music composer. MAHO FILM is handling the animation production.
The anime is based on the historical samurai manga by Tsuyoshi Yasuda, which launched in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine on October 13, 2021. Seventeen tankobon volumes have been released as of January 2025. The 15th and 16th volumes currently make up the manga’s second part, the “Shinsengumi Arc.” Kodansha USA releases the manga in English under the title The Blue Wolves of Mibu.

Crunchyroll is currently streaming the Blue Miburo anime worldwide, outside of Japan, and describes the main synopsis as:
The Black Ships arrive in Kyoto as the shogunate stumbles toward ruin. Living amidst the chaos is Nio, a kindhearted boy on the verge of discovering his destiny. He meets two “Miburo,” Hijikata Toshizo and Okita Soji, members of the band of Mibu ronin who will later become the famous Shinsengumi. With dreams of a better world, Nio joins their fight to defend the city.
