A “Faction War” trailer has been released for Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Season 5 the week before the anime’s return in February.
To recap, the last batch of DanMachi Season 5 episodes had a delay announced on December 24, 2024 JST due to “production reasons.” Now, Episode 12 and 13 will have their Japanese broadcast premiere on February 8 JST, with Episode 14 and 15 to follow on February 27 JST and March 6, respectively. Abema Premium will stream them the day before their respective broadcast debuts.
DanMachi Season 5 started airing on October 4 JST (effectively October 5 at 12:30 AM JST). Before the current delay, Episode 9 was pushed back from November 29 JST to December 5 JST. The season’s synopsis reads:
Goddess Festival—A fruit festival that brings the labyrinth city of Orario to life. Goddesses symbolizing fertility are enshrined on the altar, and among them is the Goddess of Beauty. Bell Cranel, who has survived and returned to his daily life from the dead depths of the dungeon, is here and ready to enjoy the bustle of the Goddess Festival until he receives a letter from a girl at a small bar in a corner of Orario—”To Mr. Bell, please go on a date with just the two of us at the upcoming Goddess Festival. From Syr.” Syr’s single-minded determination will drive both Bell and the labyrinth city crazy. Meanwhile, the Einherjar, the warriors who claim to be the “strongest,” are now suddenly on the move…
DanMachi is based on the GA Bunko light novel series written by Fujino Omori and illustrated by Suzuhito Yamada, which began in January 2013 and released its 20th volume in December 2024. Volume 21 will mark the start of the final arc. Yen Press describes the first volume of the books as:
In Orario, fearless adventurers band together in search of fame and fortune within the monstrous underground labyrinth known as Dungeon. But while riches and renown are incentive enough for most, Bell Cranel, would-be hero extraordinaire, has bigger plans. He wants to pick up girls. Is it wrong to face the perils of Dungeon alone, in a single-member guild blessed by a failed goddess? Maybe. Is it wrong to dream of playing hero to hapless maidens in Dungeon? Maybe not. After one misguided adventure, Bell quickly discovers that anything can happen in the labyrinth–even chance encounters with beautiful women. The only problem? He’s the one who winds up the damsel in distress!
Aside from the main light novel series, there are also Danmachi light novel spin-offs, manga, mobile games, and an anime movie. The Sword Oratoria spin-off inspired a 2017 TV anime.
The first season of the main DanMachi anime premiered in 2015. Season 4 aired from late 2022 to early 2023.
