Other main staff include Shu Matsubara (returning) as series composer and Eiji Abiko (reprising from Season 3) as character designer.

The new Mr. Osomatsu season was announced last June with Studio Pierrot’s new Pierrot Films brand in charge of animation production. The main cast members are reprising their roles.

Mr. Osomatsu is inspired by the Shogakukan-published 1962 Osomatsu-kun gag manga series by the late Fujio Akatsuka, which revolves around the Matsuno sextuplets. The first season premiered in 2015, while the third aired from October 2020 to March 2021.

Aside from the TV anime, there is a 2019 anime movie, two theatrical sixth anniversary projects that were released in 2022 and 2023, and a non-Pierrot-produced short form web anime released in 2016. There are also products in other media formats such as a Shueisha-published manga by Masako Shitara, novels, and games.

The manga previously received two anime adaptations, including one produced by Pierrot, and a 24-minute anime film in the second half of the 20th century. A live-action movie was released in Japan in 2022.
