Riyo Yorima‘s My Favorite VTuber Is Scary IRL (Haitatsusaki no Oneesan ga Kowasugiru) manga is now available in English on Square Enix‘s Manga UP! Global.
The first five chapters are available at the time of writing, with access to Chapters 2 to 5 being reserved for members.
Here’s the romantic comedy manga’s synopsis:
Starting a new job at “Delivery Eats” has one BIG challenge—a scary-looking lady who’s a regular customer. She glares at you every time you deliver her food, and in this rural town, there’s only one delivery boy to handle her orders. But on his next visit, she finally speaks—and he recognizes her voice as none other than his favorite VTuber, Hanae Fuwari! Even more shocking, she offers to pay him just to chat with her?! This is the comedic tale of an introverted delivery boy and a shy but intimidating-looking woman getting a second chance at youth!
My Favorite VTuber Is Scary IRL made its debut in 2023, with Chapter 1 launching on pixiv in June of that year. Its first tankoubon volume, published under Square Enix’s Gangan Comics pixiv label, was released in June 2024. The second volume will be out on January 21, 2025 JST.
Square Enix first released the Manga UP! app in Japan in 2017. The global version had its launch in 2022. In late November 2024, Manga UP! Global’s web browser version was refreshed to make it a proper alternative to the app version. A subscription plan was launched in April 2024.
