A fourth new PV trailer has been released for the ongoing Tohai: Ura Rate Mahjong Tohai Roku TV anime series, which previews the second cour’s new ending theme “Tumbling Dice” by Enako × Kayoko Kusano. The anime’s second cour will return with its 13th episode in Japan on January 10, 2025 after first airing on October 4, 2024.
Jun Hatori (Too Cute Crisis) is directing the anime adaptation, with Mariko Kunisawa (Berserk of Gluttony) as series screenwriter, Sayaka Anesaki as character designer, and Yusuke Shirato and Yuki Kishida as music composers. East Fish Studio is handling the animation production.
Meanwhile, the anime’s main voice cast includes:

- • Ai Fairouz as Amina
- • Shunsuke Takeuchi as Doujima
- • Chinatsu Akasaki as Yuu Katsuragi
- • Tsuyoshi Koyama as Noriyuki Takatsu
Koji Shinasaka‘s original mahjong suspense manga ran in Akita Shoten’s Young Champion magazine from June 27, 2006 to April 12, 2011. Twelve total tankobon volumes were released in total.
The manga was later followed up with Tohai: Hitobashira-hen, Tohai: Minagoroshi-hen, and the ongoing Tohai: Cold Girl, which started in the same magazine on September 28, 2021 and features Amina as the main protagonist. Seven tankobon volumes of Cold Girl have been released as of June 2024.
The series has also inspired several spin-off works and a 2013 live-action film adaptation.
Pony Canyon describes the main synopsis of the Tohai anime series as:
Money, women, organs. Kei, a high school boy, frequents the underground mahjong parlor teeming with desires, earning him the moniker “K of the ICE” in the underworld due to his cold-hearted strategy and stylish gameplay. Rumors also circulate that he keeps a girl at his home.
