Blue Exorcist -The Blue Night Saga-, the second cour to the Fall 2024 anime season’s Blue Exorcist -Beyond the Snow Saga-, will start airing on January 4, 2025 JST (effectively January 5 at 12:40 AM JST). A key visual was also released.
Additionally, it was revealed that Amazarashi is the opening theme artist, while Shui is the ending theme artist.
Blue Exorcist is based on the Shueisha-published manga by Kazue Kato, which started its serialization in Jump Square in 2009 and has been collected into 31 tankoubon volumes as of June 2024. Viz Media describes it as:
Raised by Father Fujimoto, a famous exorcist, Rin Okumura never knew his real father. One day a fateful argument with Father Fujimoto forces Rin to face a terrible truth—the blood of the demon lord Satan runs in Rin’s veins! Rin swears to defeat Satan, but doing that means entering the mysterious True Cross Academy and becoming an exorcist himself. Can Rin fight demons and keep his infernal bloodline a secret? It won’t be easy, especially when drawing his father’s sword releases the demonic power within him!
The first two Blue Exorcist anime seasons aired in 2011 and 2017, while a movie was released in 2012. The anime returned in the Winter 2024 anime season with Blue Exorcist – Shimane Illuminati Saga –. Shimane Illuminati Saga was produced by studio VOLN while the previous anime were produced by A-1 Pictures.
