Ramen Akaneko TV Anime Receives 2nd Season featured image

During Shueisha’s Jump Festa ‘24 event, it has been announced that a second season of the Ramen Akaneko TV anime series is in production. More information on the second season’s premiere date will be announced at a later date. 

Original manga creator Angyaman drew an illustration to commemorate the second season’s announcement.

Hisatoshi Shimizu (Dance Dance Danseur assistant director) is serving as the anime’s director, with Tooru Kubo (Garo: Under the Moonbow planning producer) as series screenwriter and scriptwriter, and Michinori Chiba (Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and AGE) as character designer. E&H Production was in charge of the animation production. 

Meanwhile, the anime’s voice cast includes: 

  • • Kenjiro Tsuda as Bunzo
  • • Noriaki Sugiyama as Sasaki 
  • • Michiyo Murase as Sabu 
  • • Rie Kugimiya as Hana 
  • • Saori Hayami as Krishna 
  • • Kurumi Orihara as Tamako

The first season aired for 12 episodes from July 4, 2024 to September 19, 2024. 

The original manga series by Angyaman and was first launched on Shueisha’s Jump Rookie website from November 26, 2021 to February 20, 2022. It was later serialized in the Shonen Jump+ online magazine on March 14, 2022, before moving to regular serialization on October 2, 2022. Nine tankobon volumes have been released as of October 2024, with a 10th volume set for release on February 4, 2025. MANGA Plus releases the manga series under the title Red Cat Ramen in English digitally. 

The manga was nominated in the eighth Next Manga Awards in 2022 for the web manga category and ranked fifth out of 50 entries. The series also ranked fifteenth in the Nationwide Bookstore Employees’ Recommended Comics of 2023.

Crunchyroll is streaming the first season and describes the series as: 

Welcome to Ramen Akaneko, a restaurant run solely by cats. That is, until a human named Tamako Yashiro interviews for a job. Oddly enough, her candor about being a dog person lands her the job. This is a beautiful story of human and feline relationships woven through the many customers who visit Ramen Akaneko. Get ready for an extra helping of heartfelt moments that warm the body and soul.
