Pony Canyon has revealed a new main key visual, third PV trailer, and additional cast members for the upcoming Übel Blatt TV anime series. The series is scheduled to premiere in Japan on January 10, 2025 and will stream exclusively on Prime Video worldwide.

The new English-subbed trailer previews the anime’s main opening theme “Zainin” by Japanese pop rock duo Garnidelia.
The new additional cast members joining the series include:

Takashi Naoya (Tales of Wedding Rings, Am I Actually the Strongest?) is directing the anime series, with Tatsuya Takahashi (The Faraway Paladin: The Lord of Rust Mountains and Am I Actually the Strongest?, To-Heart scenario writer) as series screenwriter and co-scriptwriter, and Kiyoshi Tateishi (Vermeil in Gold, Val x Love) as character designer. Satelight and Staple Entertainment are handling the animation production.
The anime is based on Etorouji Shiono’s dark fantasy manga series, which debuted in Square Enix’s Gangan YG on December 3, 2004, before moving to Young Gangan later that year until 2009. After a two-year hiatus, the manga returned to Monthly Big Gangan on December 24, 2011 and was serialized there until March 25, 2019. A total of 24 tankobon volumes were released, which includes the first “Volume 0.” The manga is also release digitally in English by Manga UP!
A sequel titled Übel Blatt II: The Knights of the Deceased King has been running in Monthly Big Gangan since February 24, 2024.

Yen Press releases the Übel Blatt manga series in English, describing the main synopsis as:
Rumors stir throughout the land: when the wielder of the black sword draws his dark blade, all who stand in its path are torn asunder…!
