Two new character visuals have been unveiled for the lead cast for The Darwin Incident TV anime series. It has not yet been announced when the series will begin airing.

The newly released visuals coincide with the unofficial holiday, Monkey Day, to celebrate monkeys and non-human primates alike.  The holiday was created by American artists Casey Sorrow and Eric Millikin

Naokatsu Tsuda (Tokyo 24th Ward) is directing the anime, with Katsuichi Nakayama (Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory director, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time co-director) credited as series director, Shinichi Inozume (Spy Classroom) as series screenwriter, and Shinpei Tomooka (Trinity Seven) as character designer. Bellnox Films is in charge of the animation production.

The anime adaptation is based on the sci-fi social thriller manga series by Shun Umezawa, which has been serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon since June 25, 2020. Eight tankobon volumes have been released as of November 2024.

The manga was a finalist in the “General” category of the 47th and 48th Kodansha Manga Award. It was also the winner of the 15th Manga Taisho award, as well as an Excellence Award at the 25th Japanese Media Arts Festival.
