Jump j Books has revealed the cover art for the upcoming Kana Arima and Akane Kurosawa-centric OSHI NO KO ~Futari no Etude~ light novel. The characters’ past and current selves are both depicted in it.
The updated synopsis for the book reveals that its story takes place after the events surrounding the in-universe movie The 15 Year Lie. During this time, Kana and Akane are the co-leads in an upcoming improvisational theatre production, but continue to struggle with getting along with each other. The book will also depict some events from the heroines’ past, as they recall a certain stage audition that they both participated in.
OSHI NO KO ~Futari no Etude~ is set to launch on December 18 JST, matching the release date of the manga’s 16th and final tankoubon volume. The author is Hajime Tanaka, who previously penned last year’s Ai Hoshino-focused OSHI NO KO ~Ichibanboshi no Spica~. OSHI NO KO author Aka Akasaka is once again supervising the story.
The original OSHI NO KO manga, which is drawn by Mengo Yokoyari, began serialization in Weekly Young Jump in 2020 and ended on November 14 JST. It has inspired a Doga Kobo-produced TV anime (which is receiving a third season), a live-action drama and movie, and a novelization.
Yen Press describes the manga as:
Gorou is a gynecologist and idol fan who’s in shock after his favorite star, Ai, announces an impromptu hiatus. Little does Gorou realize that he’s about to forge a bond with her that defies all common sense! Lies are an idol’s greatest weapon in this outrageous manga from Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) and Mengo Yokoyari (Scum’s Wish).
