Crunchyroll has unveiled a short new trailer for the upcoming Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow-, which previews the series’ new main opening theme “ReawakeR” by LiSA featuring Felix from Stray Kids. The second season will premiere in Japan in January 2025, with Crunchyroll streaming it worldwide.
The new video showcases some new upcoming scenes from the second season, and introduces the opening theme song, “ReawakeR.” The track is produced by the anime series’ official music composer Hiroyuki Sawano.
The upcoming Solo Leveling -ReAwakening- compilation film will screen in Japan from November 29, 2024 to December 12, 2024. It is also scheduled to begin screening in South Korea on November 28, 2024 and in the United States and Canada on December 6, 2024.
The compilation film also includes the first two episodes of Arise from the Shadow, which are titled “You aren’t E-rank, are You,” and “I Suppose You aren’t Aware.”
Many of the staff from the TV anime series are reprising their roles in the anime’s production, including Shunsuke Nakashige as director, Noboru Kimura as series screenwriter, Tomoko Sudo as character designer, Chiaki Kozumi as sub-character designer, Hirokatsu Maruyama (Season 1 co-main animator et al.) and Yoshihiro Kanno as action director, and Hirotaka Tokuda as monster designer. A-1 Pictures is in charge of the animation production.
Meanwhile, the returning voice cast for season two includes:

The anime’s first season began airing in Japan on January 6, 2024 and concluded on March 31, 2024. It is being streamed by Crunchyroll, bilibili, and Netflix overseas. The series was originally slated to premiere in 2023.
The anime is based on the 2016 South Korean web novel written by Chugong and illustrated by the late Dubu (Redice Studio). A webtoon drawn by the latter was released afterwards in 2018, inspiring 11 volumes as of June 2024. H-Goon is credited with adapting the series in later volumes of the webtoon’s Japanese publication after Dubu’s passing.
Crunchyroll describes the synopsis of the second season as:
It’s been over ten years since gates that lead to another dimension have begun appearing across the world. The battles between the magic beasts inhabiting the dungeons through the gates and the human hunters who have awakened the abilities to fight them show no signs of ending. Ordinarily, a hunter’s abilities do not change upon awakening, with their rank never increasing. However, the low-ranked Sung Jinwoo, known as “The Weakest Hunter of All Mankind,” gained the ability to level up through battle during a raid on a double dungeon.
Having completed a job-change quest that earned him the job “Shadow Monarch” and command over an army of shadows, Jinwoo heads into battle seeking the ingredients for the Elixir of Life to save his sick mother.
