An update from the Whisper Me A Love Song anime’s X (formerly Twitter) account has revealed that the show’s last two episodes will be consecutively released in late December, beginning with Episode 11 on December 28 JST (effectively December 29 at 1:45 AM JST).

A visual for the “Bunkasai-hen” (“Cultural Festival” arc) was also released.

Whisper Me A Love Song, which adapts the yuri romance manga by Eku Takeshima, started airing in April after missing its previous January premiere window. HIDIVE streams the anime, which suffered severely poor production values. In June, the show’s ninth episode was delayed from June 8 JST to June 22 JST because of “production circumstances.” Then, on June 30 JST, it was announced that Episodes 11 and 12 would air at an unspecified later date.

The delays and production values weren’t the only visible sign of trouble for the show. Xinya Cai (The Genius Prince’s Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt assistant director) was originally slated to direct the series, but was replaced by Akira Mano (Ghost HuntGunslinger Girl: -Il Teatrino-) due to their health before the show aired. Another production credit change was Yokohama Animation Lab becoming the co-animation production studio with Cloud Hearts instead of being the animation production supervisor.

In late October, ITmedia reported that the Cloud Hearts website had become inaccessible, and that its domain was listed as “Deleted” on WHOIS. The studio was set up in 2021 and was as ITmedia notes, split-up from Yokohama Animation Lab. ITmedia added that since May, Cloud Hearts has not been mentioned on Yokohama Animation Lab’s website as a business partner (presently, the entire “Other Business” section where Cloud Hearts was listed under has been scrapped).

The Whisper Me A Love Song manga began serialization in Ichijinsha’s Comic Yuri Hime in 2019 and has 10 tankoubon volumes as of July 2024. Kodansha USA describes the manga as:

Bubbly, energetic first-year high school student Himari falls head over heels for her senpai Yori after hearing her band perform on the first day of school. Himari tells Yori she just loves her, and, to Himari’s surprise, Yori says she loves Himari back! But when Himari realizes that she and her senpai are feeling two different kinds of love, she begins to ask herself what “love” really means…
