Five new cast members have been revealed to be joining the voice cast of Blue Miburo. The ongoing anime series first premiered in Japan on October 19, 2024 and is expected to broadcast for two consecutive cours.
The five new voice actors will voice members of the Aizu clan, who will be highlighted in a new story arc starting in the anime’s fifth episode on November 16, 2024. They include:
- • Ayumu Murase as Seto
- • Makoto Ishii as Matsudaira Katamori
- • Kenji Hamada as Fujita
- • Mitsuru Miyamoto as Jutarō Komura
- • Toru Sakurai as Kyoshiro
They join a main voice cast that consists of:
- • Shuichiro Umeda as Nio Chirinu
- • Yohei Azakami as Toshizo Hijikata
- • Kensho Ono as Okita Souji
- • Chiaki Kobayashi as Hajime Saito
- • Shun Horie as Taro Tanaka
Kumiko Habara (Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp) is directing the anime series, with Kenta Ihara (Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy) as series screenwriter, Yuko Oba (Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp) as character designer, Miyako Nishida (Rainbow Days) as character designer, and Yuki Hayashi (My Hero Academia) as music composer. MAHO FILM is the animation production company.
Crunchyroll is currently streaming the anime worldwide, outside of Japan.
The anime adaptation is based on the historical samurai manga by Tsuyoshi Yasuda, which was launched in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine on October 13, 2021. Fifteen tankobon volumes have been released as of September 2024, with a 16th volume due out on November 15, 2024. The 15th and 16th volumes make up the manga’s second part, the “Shinsengumi Arc.”

Kodansha USA releases the Blue Miburo manga in English under the title The Blue Wolves of Mibu, describing the main synopsis as:
Nio is an orphan who can’t help dreaming of a better world. In this action-packed manga, he meets two men who show him how much a few swords can change history.
