The Science Adventure series is getting a new Steins;Gate game titled Steins;Gate Re:Boot. The new title is set to be released in 2025.
Dengeki Online reports that Re:Boot will feature new graphics and some additional story elements, and Famitsu adds that huke is returning as character designer. Platforms and price have yet to be revealed, but MAGES. has released a teaser trailer:
The original Steins;Gate was first released for Xbox 360 in October 2009. Prior to Re:Boot, it received a remaster called Steins;Gate Elite that featured footage from the TV anime adaptation with some new animation sequences.
Outside of the original Steins;Gate and its visual refreshes, there is a midquel titled Steins;Gate 0 and a number of spin-offs. Anime-wise, there is an anime movie and Steins;Gate 0 adaptation in addition to the first TV anime.
Anime Trending recently spoke with Steins;Gate producer Tatsuya Matsubara in commemoration of the game”s 15th anniversary and addition to the Crunchyroll Game Vault. When we asked Matsubara what the sci-fi visual novel would feature were it made in this decade, he said, “My belief is the next trend — or what we’re on the brink of — is nanomaterials. I think that’s getting a lot of attention in the scientific community right now. There are new materials that are extremely light, yet extremely strong. If you can mass produce these types of materials, I think that would open up possibilities to space elevators, and they have properties that a lot of other materials do not. They can transmit at the speed of light or conduct heat in ways that other materials really can’t. So, I think trying to imagine and depict that future would be really, really fun for a Steins;Gate if we were to make it in this day and age.”
Update: Added that huke is returning as character designer.
