Hinaki Yano has been revealed as the latest cast member joining the upcoming Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms TV anime series, which will premiere in Japan in January 2025.
Yano will play Mona’s childhood friend and transfer student form Osaka named Tomo Nanba, who is spotlighted and introduced in the newest character trailer.
Yano joins a main cast headlined by
- • Yu Serizawa as Mona Kawai
- • Ryota Iwasaki as Medaka Kuroiwa
- • Sora Amamiya as Asahi Shonan
- • Kana Hanazawa as Tsubomi Haruno
Yoshiaki Okumura is directing the anime series, with Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Shangri-la Frontier) as series script writer and screenplay writer, Mayumi Watanabe (Too Cute Crisis) as character designer, and Akiyuki Tateyama (Laid-Back Camp) as music composer. SynergySP is handling the animation production.
The anime is based on the romantic comedy manga series by Ran Kuze, which began serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine on May 26, 2021 and has released 15 tankobon volumes as of July 2024, with a 16th volume set for release on October 17, 2024. The manga originally began as a 2020 one-shot.
Kodansha USA releases the Medaka Kuroiwa Is Impervious to My Charms manga in English, describing the main synopsis as:
Mona is the cutest girl in school, and she knows it. In fact, she’s worked hard to make her high school debut successful. But no matter what she does, she can’t seem to catch the eye of stone-cold stoic Medaka Kuroiwa — but she’s not about to give up that easy. Medaka, on the other hand, has been raised at a temple and was told to never become close to women. Who will win in this heated battle of wills?
