Tomoki Izumi‘s Mieruko-chan manga is getting a live-action movie adaptation, which will premiere in Japan in early summer 2025.
Nanoka Hara, who voiced the titular heroine of Makoto Shinkai‘s Suzume and is playing Kana Arima in OSHI NO KO‘s live-action adaptation, has been casted as main character Miko Yotsuya. Yoshihiro Nakamura (Keikobo, Tono, Risoku de Gozaru) is directing and penning the screenplay.
The Mieruko-chan horror-comedy manga began serialization in KADOKAWA’s ComicWalker (now KadoComi) in 2018. Currently, it has 10 tankoubon volumes as of February 2024.
Yen Press describes the premise as:
One day, she could see…everything. What’s a girl to do when hideous monsters appear no matter which way she turns? And on top of that, nobody else can see them! Obviously, there’s only one thing that makes sense—ignore them. Kinda hard to put theory into practice, though, when the ghosts know she’s watching…
A TV anime adaptation aired during the Fall 2021 anime season.
